Jigawa State Consumer Protection Committee has succeeded in arresting two people for allegedly mixing 12 bags of Dangote animal feed and 6 bags of rice waste at Hadejia market.

The chairman of the committee, Farouk Abdallah Malammadori announced this in a statement, adding that they have already arraigned the people named Ahmed Abdullahi Agufau and Salihu Maigari Makera before the mobile court of the committee.

He said the court sentenced them to 6 months imprisonment or the option of paying a fine of 200 thousand naira and confiscating the 16 bags of animal feed.

Farouk Abdallah Mallam Madori added that the court warned them that if they are found to have committed such a crime again, they will be imprisoned for three months before arraigning them again.

The court gave them 30 days to appeal if they do not accept the decision.

According to the chairman of the committee, the punishment will serve as a deterrent for fraudsters in Jigawa state markets.
